On April 10, 2015 at Convocation, North America's largest weekly gathering of Christian students, and Matt Chandler, Lead Pastor of the Village Church in Texas, spoke at convocation. Matt Chandler spoke to students about not conforming to moralism. He read from Hebrews 12 and encouraged the students to run to the Lord because he is the only thing that will satisfy in this world full of sin and to check the motive for their heart.
Matt Chandler has been pastoring the Village Church since 2002 and in 2009 suffered from a tumor in his frontal lobe. After 18 months of radiation and chemo he was released and given the go to continue to pastor. Since then he has become the president of Acts 29, which is a network of churches planting churches.
